Example: Map a custom entity to a data source

Learn how to map the fields of a custom data entity to the fields of a Google Sheet

Overview

In this example, you use Google Sheet, which is already connected to Quantive Results as a data source, to populate the fields of an already created custom entity.

This example uses the SalesSheet data source to populate the Monthly sale opportunities data entity.


Procedure

Perform the following:

  1. In the navigation pane, click on Settings then under the Integrations section select Data sources.

  2. On the Data sources page, Expand Not connected entities.

  3. Click on the three dot menu of Monthly sale opportunities.

  4. Click Connect.

  5. In the Choose a data source to pull from section, click SalesSheet.

  6. Drag the Sales field and drop it next to Sales opportunities.

  7. Drag the Status field and drop it next to Status of deal.

  8. Drag the Amount field and drop in next to Revenue.

  9. Click Save.


Result

The rows of the Monthly sale opportunities table, represented by the sales_monthly database entity is populated with the rows of the Google Sheet.

You can preview the rows of the Monthly sale opportunities entity by clicking on its name, then select the Preview data tab.
