Gtmhub supports two types of key results (KRs) which can be added to your objectives:

In Gtmhub, manual key results need to be updated manually by the objective owner while dynamic key results are updated automatically from 3rd party business systems such as CRMs or databases.

Defining manual Key Results

To define a manual KR, start by opening an objective you've created or by creating an objective. You should be on this screen so that you can click on the button + Add a manual key result.

There are two types of manual key results that can be defined: numeric and Boolean (yes/no). For example, if you want to increase number of leads from 50 to 100, you would choose a numeric key result. On the other hand, if your key result is something like Launch new marketing campaign, you would choose a Boolean KR.

Adding a numeric manual Key Result

  1. Choose a title for your KR in the Name field. It should be a quantitative statement of a measurable result
  2. From the Key Result Type drop down, select either one of the following four options: should increase to, should decrease to, should stay above, should stay below
  3. From the Unit section, you can assign and customize a specific unit to your Key Result, i.e. if your KR is related to collecting money, then the unit should be a specific currency ($)
  4. Enter the number you are aiming to achieve in the Target Number field
  5. In the Initial Number field enter the starting point from which your KR will be measured (it can be either 0 or any other given number. In this case, since we want to increase the number of leads from 50 to 100, the initial value should be set to 50)
  6. You can also elaborate further by giving it a more detailed description in the Short Description field
  7. You can assign a team or employee different than the objective owner from the Owner field
  8. In the Deadline field, you can set a soft and/or hard deadline if the target needs to be hit before the session’s end date
  9. Click on the Save button and your key result will be created

Adding a Boolean manual Key Result

  1. Choose a title for your KR in the Name field. In this case, it can be formulated as a yes/no question since the KR is a Boolean one
  2. From the Key Result Type drop-down menu, select the achieved or not option
  3. You can also elaborate further by giving it a more detailed description in the Short Description field
  4. You can assign a team or employee different than the objective owner from the Owner field
  5. In the Deadline field, you can set a soft and/or hard deadline if the target needs to be hit before the session’s end date
  6. Click on the Save button and your key result will be created

ProTip - Working with deadlines

Generally, key results have the same deadline as the OKR session. However, you can modify those to be shorter by using soft and hard deadlines.

ProTip - Key Results owners

Manual key results can be assigned to a different owner (a person or a team) than the objective's owner.

You can benefit from this option when there's an objective assigned to a team. You may want to assign its key results to different team members from that particular team.

There's another very good example - you can assign key results to different teams in a company owned objective.

Now, that you've set the manual KRs to your Objectives, let's review how you can start updating the key results and track your progress.
